Rakim Athelston Mayers, known to the world as ASAP Rocky, is a multifaceted American artist born on October 3, 1988, in Harlem. He first gained prominence as a member of the hip hop collective ASAP Mob, where he adopted his iconic stage name. His breakthrough came in August 2011 with the leak of his single 'Peso,' which quickly garnered radio airplay and thrust cloud rap into the mainstream spotlight. By October of that year, he signed with Polo Grounds Music, an RCA Records imprint, and released his critically acclaimed debut mixtape, 'Live. Love. A$AP.'
