Ahmed III

Personal Facts, Age, Height and Biography of Ahmed III

Ahmed III, born on December thirtieth, sixteen seventy-three, was a prominent ruler of the Ottoman Empire, ascending to the throne in seventeen oh three following the abdication of his brother, Mustafa II. He was the son of Sultan Mehmed IV and Gülnuş Sultan, an ethnic Greek originally named Evmania Voria. His birthplace was Hacıoğlu Pazarcık, located in Dobruja.

During his reign, which is often referred to as the Tulip Era, significant political maneuvers were undertaken, particularly under the guidance of Nevşehirli Damat İbrahim Pasha and his daughter, Fatma Sultan. This period, lasting from seventeen eighteen to seventeen thirty, was marked by efforts to stabilize the government and appease the influential janissaries, although Ahmed's effectiveness in managing their expectations was somewhat limited.

Grand Vizier Çorlulu Ali Pasha, appointed by Ahmed, played a crucial role in administrative affairs, implementing new treasury measures and supporting the Sultan in his struggles against rival factions. Ahmed III was not only a ruler but also an avid reader and a skilled calligrapher, with a deep appreciation for history and poetry, which enriched his cultural contributions to the empire.
