Alexandre Lacoste

Alexandre Lacoste was a prominent Canadian lawyer, professor, and politician, born on January thirteenth, eighteen forty-two, in Boucherville, Canada East, now known as Quebec. He was the son of Louis Lacoste and dedicated much of his life to the legal and political landscape of Canada.

From eighteen eighty to nineteen twenty-three, Lacoste served as a law professor at the Université de Montréal, shaping the minds of future legal professionals. His political career began in eighteen eighty-two when he was appointed to the Legislative Council of Quebec, marking the start of his significant contributions to Canadian governance.

In eighteen eighty-four, he ascended to the Senate of Canada, representing the senatorial division of De Lorimier, Quebec, as a member of the Conservative Party. His leadership skills were recognized in April eighteen ninety-one when he was appointed Speaker of the Senate, a role he held until his resignation in September of the same year to become Chief Justice of the Court of Queen's Bench of Quebec. He continued to serve in this esteemed position until his retirement in nineteen oh seven.

In recognition of his contributions, Lacoste was made a Knight Bachelor in eighteen ninety-two. He passed away in Montreal in nineteen twenty-three and was entombed at the Notre Dame des Neiges Cemetery, leaving behind a legacy of legal and political excellence.
