Anita Desai

Anita Desai, born on June twenty-four, nineteen thirty-seven, is a distinguished Indian novelist and a prominent figure in the literary world. She holds the title of emerita John E. Burchard Professor of Humanities at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, where she has inspired countless students with her profound insights into literature.

Throughout her illustrious career, Desai has been recognized for her exceptional contributions to literature, having been shortlisted for the Booker Prize on three occasions. Her novel, Fire on the Mountain, earned her the Sahitya Akademi Award in nineteen seventy-eight, a prestigious honor from India's National Academy of Literature.
