Anthony Weiner

Anthony Weiner, born on September fourth, nineteen sixty-four, is a notable American politician hailing from New York. A member of the Democratic Party, Weiner's political career includes serving on the New York City Council and representing New York's ninth congressional district in the U.S. House of Representatives. He first entered public service as a staff member for U.S. Representative Chuck Schumer after graduating from the State University of New York at Plattsburgh in nineteen eighty-five.

Weiner's political journey began in earnest when he was elected to the New York City Council in nineteen ninety-one, becoming the youngest councilmember in the city's history at the age of twenty-seven. He served on the council until nineteen ninety-eight, when he transitioned to the U.S. House of Representatives, where he remained until his resignation in two thousand eleven. Weiner also made two attempts to run for mayor of New York City, in two thousand five and two thousand thirteen, but was unsuccessful in both Democratic primaries.

His career was marred by multiple sex scandals, the first of which led to his resignation from Congress in June two thousand eleven after it was revealed that he had sent sexually explicit photos to various women. A subsequent scandal during his two thousand thirteen mayoral campaign further tarnished his reputation. In September two thousand sixteen, allegations surfaced regarding his involvement in sexting with a fifteen-year-old girl, which resulted in the seizure of his devices as part of an investigation.

Weiner's laptop was also found to contain information relevant to the Hillary Clinton email controversy, prompting the FBI to reopen its investigation just days before the two thousand sixteen presidential election. Ultimately, he pleaded guilty to transferring obscene material to a minor and served over a year in federal prison. In two thousand twenty-five, Weiner attempted a political comeback by running for the New York City Council in the second district, finishing in fourth place in the Democratic primary against Harvey Epstein.
