Bahram III

Bahram III, a monarch of the Sasanian Empire, was born into a lineage of power as the son of Bahram II. His early life saw him serve as the viceroy of Sakastan, a region that his father had successfully re-conquered in the 280s.

Upon the death of his father in 293, Bahram III ascended to the throne. However, his reign was marked by challenges, as many nobles viewed him as too weak to lead effectively. This perception led to a significant shift in loyalty, with many pledging allegiance to his grand-uncle, Narseh.

Bahram III's rule was short-lived, lasting only four months. During this brief period, he faced military challenges that culminated in a campaign led by Narseh. The circumstances surrounding his demise remain uncertain, with historical accounts suggesting he was either captured or killed, paving the way for Narseh to claim the throne.
