Carlos Monzón

Carlos Roque Monzón, born on August 7, 1942, was an iconic Argentine professional boxer whose legacy in the sport remains unparalleled. Known by the nickname 'Escopeta' or 'Shotgun', Monzón held the undisputed world middleweight championship for an impressive seven years, during which he successfully defended his title fourteen times against eleven different opponents. His remarkable achievements earned him the title of Fighter of the Year in 1972 from both The Ring magazine and the Boxing Writers Association of America.

Monzón's boxing prowess is reflected in his extraordinary career record of eighty-seven wins, three losses, and nine draws, with fifty-nine of those victories coming by way of knockout. His losses occurred early in his career and were avenged, showcasing his resilience and determination.
