Christina Rossetti

Christina Rossetti, born on December fifth, eighteen thirty, was a distinguished English poet and writer, renowned for her romantic and devotional poetry. Among her most celebrated works are the evocative poems 'Goblin Market' and 'Remember', which showcase her unique voice and deep emotional resonance.

As the youngest sister of the artist and poet Dante Gabriel Rossetti, Christina's life was intertwined with the Pre-Raphaelite movement, which significantly influenced her early poetry. She is also featured in several of her brother's paintings, including the notable 'Ecce Ancilla Domini!' created in eighteen fifty.

In addition to her poetry, Christina contributed to the musical landscape of Britain by writing the lyrics for two beloved Christmas carols: 'In the Bleak Midwinter' and 'Love Came Down at Christmas'. These carols have been set to music by various composers, including Gustav Holst and Harold Darke, further cementing her legacy in the realm of hymnody.
