Dhani Harrison, born on August 1, 1978, is a multifaceted musician, composer, and singer-songwriter with roots in both England and America. As the son of George Harrison, the legendary lead guitarist of The Beatles, and Olivia Harrison, Dhani's musical journey began at an early age. He made his professional debut by assisting in the recording of his father's final album, 'Brainwashed,' which he completed with the help of Jeff Lynne after George's passing in 2001.
In 2002, Dhani founded his own band, thenewno2, which quickly gained recognition for its dynamic performances, including a standout debut at the Coachella festival, hailed by Spin magazine as one of the best of the event. The band has also graced the stages of Lollapalooza multiple times, where Dhani collaborated with festival founder Perry Farrell on a memorable cover of The Velvet Underground's 'Sweet Jane' in 2010. His solo career took off with the release of his debut album, 'In Parallel,' in 2017, followed by the 2019 film 'In///Paralive,' which showcased his live performance at Henson Studios in Los Angeles.
Harrison's talents extend beyond performing; he ventured into composing in 2013, partnering with Paul Hicks to score various projects, including the Warner Bros. film 'Beautiful Creatures' and the TV series 'Good Girls Revolt.' Their work on the documentary 'Matangi/Maya/M.I.A.' earned them a nomination for 'Best Music Score' at the International Documentary Association Awards in 2018. More recently, he composed the title song for the Netflix series 'Dogs' and scored several high-profile documentaries, including 'The Case Against Adnan Syed' and 'Inside Bill's Brain: Decoding Bill Gates.'
Throughout his career, Dhani has collaborated with a diverse array of artists, touring with Eric Clapton and performing alongside the Wu-Tang Clan on 'The Heart Gently Weeps.' A highlight of his career was his performance at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2004, where he joined Tom Petty, Jeff Lynne, and Prince to honor his father's legacy. His collaborations also include contributions to UNKLE's album 'The Road: Part II/Lost Highway' and Perry Farrell's 'Kind Heaven.' In 2019, he opened for Jeff Lynne's band ELO during their sold-out North American summer tour, further solidifying his place in the music industry.
