Djedefre

Djedefre, an ancient Egyptian king of the 4th Dynasty, ruled during the illustrious Old Kingdom period. He is often recognized by the Hellenized version of his name, Rhatoisēs, as recorded by the historian Manetho. As the son of Khufu, the renowned builder of the Great Pyramid of Giza, Djedefre ascended to the throne as his immediate successor.

While the identity of his mother remains uncertain, Djedefre's reign is marked by significant contributions to the royal lineage. He is credited with introducing the royal title Sa-Rê, which translates to 'Son of Ra.' This title not only emphasized his divine connection but also established a precedent for future pharaohs.
