Personal Facts, Age, Height and Biography of Donald J. Harris

Donald J. Harris, born on August twenty-third, nineteen thirty-eight, is a distinguished Jamaican-American economist and an emeritus professor at Stanford University. Renowned for his application of post-Keynesian principles to development economics, he has made significant contributions to the field, particularly through his tenure in the Stanford Department of Economics.

Raised in Saint Ann Parish, Jamaica, Harris pursued higher education at the University College of the West Indies, where he earned his bachelor's degree, followed by a PhD from the University of California, Berkeley. His academic journey included professorships at notable institutions such as the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, Northwestern University, and the University of Wisconsin-Madison before he joined Stanford University.

In nineteen seventy-eight, Harris published his influential book, Capital Accumulation and Income Distribution, which critiques mainstream economic theories. Through mathematical modeling, he proposed alternative frameworks for understanding the impacts of capital accumulation on income inequality, economic growth, and instability. His expertise extends to the Jamaican economy, where he has served as an economic policy consultant and adviser to various prime ministers.

In recognition of his substantial contributions to national development, Harris was awarded Jamaica's Order of Merit in twenty twenty-one, the country's third-highest national honor. He is also the proud father of Kamala Harris, the forty-ninth vice president of the United States and the twenty twenty-four Democratic presidential nominee, as well as Maya Harris, a prominent lawyer, advocate, and writer.
