Grand Duchess Olga Nikolaevna of Russia

Personal Facts, Age, Height and Biography of Grand Duchess Olga Nikolaevna of Russia

Grand Duchess Olga Nikolaevna of Russia, born on November fifteenth, eighteen ninety-five, was the eldest child and daughter of Nicholas II, the last emperor of Russia, and Empress Alexandra Feodorovna. Her noble lineage placed her at the center of Russian aristocracy, where her future marriage became a topic of considerable speculation.

Throughout her life, various potential suitors were rumored, including Grand Duke Dmitri Pavlovich of Russia, Crown Prince Carol of Romania, Edward, Prince of Wales, and Crown Prince Alexander of Serbia. Despite these prospects, Olga expressed a desire to marry a Russian and remain in her homeland.

During the tumultuous years of World War I, Olga dedicated herself to nursing, tending to wounded soldiers in a military hospital. However, the emotional toll of her work eventually led her to step back from direct care, whereupon she took on administrative responsibilities within the hospital.

Tragically, Olga's life was cut short following the Russian Revolution of nineteen seventeen, leading to her murder. In recognition of her suffering and sacrifice, she was canonized as a passion bearer by the Russian Orthodox Church. In the 1990s, her remains were identified through DNA testing and were laid to rest in a solemn ceremony at Peter and Paul Cathedral in St. Petersburg, alongside her parents and two of her sisters.
