Guru Har Krishan

Personal Facts, Age, Height and Biography of Guru Har Krishan

Guru Har Krishan, also known as Bal Guru or Hari Krishan Sahib, was a remarkable figure in Sikh history, recognized as the eighth of the ten Sikh gurus. Born on July seventh, sixteen fifty-six, he ascended to the position of guru at the tender age of five, following the passing of his father, Guru Har Rai. This made him the youngest guru in the Sikh tradition, a title that reflects both his extraordinary lineage and the profound spiritual legacy he was destined to carry.

His tenure as guru, although brief, was marked by significant spiritual insight and leadership. Guru Har Krishan's reign lasted only two years, five months, and twenty-four days, as he tragically contracted smallpox in sixteen sixty-four. He passed away before reaching his eighth birthday, making his time as guru the shortest in Sikh history.

Despite his young age and the brevity of his leadership, Guru Har Krishan left an indelible mark on the Sikh community. He is fondly remembered for his poignant last words, "Baba Bakale," which were interpreted by Sikhs as a directive to seek his grand-uncle, Guru Tegh Bahadur, as his successor. His legacy continues to inspire devotion and reverence among followers of Sikhism.
