John S. McCain Jr.

John Sidney McCain Jr. was born on January 17, 1911, in Washington, D.C., into a family with a rich naval heritage. Following in the footsteps of his father, Admiral John S. McCain Sr., he graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy in 1931 and embarked on a distinguished career as a military officer and submariner. His early service during World War II saw him commanding submarines across various theaters, where he earned accolades such as the Silver Star and Bronze Star for his contributions to the war effort.

McCain's military career was marked by significant leadership roles, including his command during the U.S. invasion of the Dominican Republic in 1965.
