John Utaka

John Utaka, born on January eighth, nineteen eighty-two, is a distinguished Nigerian former professional footballer who made his mark as a striker. Currently, he serves as a youth coach at Montpellier, where he imparts his extensive knowledge and experience to the next generation of footballers. Notably, he is the elder brother of fellow professional footballer Peter Utaka.

Throughout his illustrious career, Utaka showcased his talents across three continents, beginning with Arab Contractors in Nigeria. He then moved to Ismaily in Egypt, followed by a season at Al-Sadd in Qatar. His journey continued in France, where he played for RC Lens and later Rennes, demonstrating his versatility and skill on the field.

Utaka's international career is equally impressive, having represented Nigeria at two World Cups and three Africa Cup of Nations tournaments since his debut in two thousand two. Known for his pace and agility, he was often utilized as a winger, making him a vital asset in counter-attacking strategies.

In addition to his playing career, Utaka is the founder of the John Utaka Football Academy in Minna, Niger State, where he is dedicated to nurturing young talent and promoting the sport in his home country.
