Kulbhushan Kharbanda

Kulbhushan Kharbanda, born on October twenty-first, nineteen forty-four, is a distinguished Indian actor renowned for his contributions to Hindi and Punjabi cinema. He gained widespread recognition for his portrayal of the formidable antagonist Shakaal in the iconic film Shaan, released in nineteen eighty. His journey in the performing arts began in nineteen seventy-four with the Delhi-based theatre group Borkh, where he honed his craft in the vibrant world of stage acting.

Throughout his illustrious career, Kharbanda has made significant strides in parallel cinema, showcasing his versatility and depth as an actor. He has appeared in several critically acclaimed films, including Mahesh Bhatt's classic Arth in nineteen eighty-two, Ek Chadar Maili Si in nineteen eighty-six, and the television series Waaris in nineteen eighty-eight. His remarkable talent also led him to collaborate with acclaimed director Deepa Mehta in all three parts of the Elements trilogy: Fire in nineteen ninety-six, Earth in nineteen ninety-eight, and Water in two thousand five.

After a hiatus of nearly two decades from the theatre scene, Kharbanda made a triumphant return to the stage at the Padatik Theatre in Kolkata. He starred in the production of Atmakatha, directed by Vinay Sharma, reaffirming his passion for live performance and his enduring legacy in the world of acting.
