Lil Peep

Gustav Elijah Åhr, known to the world as Lil Peep, was born on November 1, 1996, in Allentown, Pennsylvania. Raised on Long Island, he was the son of an American mother and a Swedish father. Lil Peep began his musical journey in 2013, initially releasing tracks on SoundCloud under the moniker Trap Goose. However, he soon adopted the stage name Lil Peep, a nickname given to him by his mother since childhood.

His rise to fame was meteoric, particularly after the release of his single 'Star Shopping' in 2015, which garnered significant attention. That same year, he released two mixtapes, 'Lil Peep; Part One' and 'Live Forever', solidifying his status as a prominent figure in the emo rap scene. In 2016, he continued to captivate audiences with his acclaimed mixtapes 'Crybaby' and 'Hellboy', and collaborated on projects like 'California Girls' and 'Vertigo'.

Lil Peep's first live performance took place on February 12, 2016, as part of Schemaposse in Tucson, Arizona. He toured with artists such as Fat Nick and Smokepurpp, and in the spring of 2017, he embarked on his first solo tour, performing in three Russian cities and across Europe and the United States. After relocating to London, he recorded his EP 'Goth Angel Sinner' and released his debut studio album, 'Come Over When You're Sober, Pt. 1', in August 2017. This album marked a shift towards pop-punk and rap rock, while his second album, 'Come Over When You're Sober, Pt. 2', was released posthumously in 2018, debuting at number four on the Billboard 200.

Tragically, Lil Peep's life was cut short on November 15, 2017, when he died on his tour bus before a scheduled performance in Tucson. The Pima County medical examiner ruled his death an accidental overdose involving fentanyl and alprazolam. His untimely passing was felt deeply across the music industry, with many noting that he had the potential to be his generation's Kurt Cobain. In 2019, a documentary titled 'Everybody's Everything' was released, celebrating his life and impact on music.
