Personal Facts, Age, Height and Biography of Matthieu Ricard

Matthieu Ricard, born on February ninth, nineteen forty-six, is a prominent Nepalese French Buddhist monk, writer, photographer, translator, philosopher, and geneticist. He resides at the Shechen Tennyi Dargyeling Monastery in Nepal, where he immerses himself in the teachings and practices of Tibetan Buddhism.

Growing up in the vibrant intellectual circles of France, Ricard pursued a PhD in molecular genetics at the Pasteur Institute, which he completed in nineteen seventy-two. However, he chose to abandon his scientific career to dedicate his life to spiritual practice in the Himalayas, where he has since become a significant figure in the Buddhist community.

Ricard is a board member of the Mind and Life Institute and has been recognized for his humanitarian efforts, receiving the French National Order of Merit for his work with Karuna-Shechen, a non-profit organization he co-founded in two thousand with Rabjam Rinpoche. His commitment to promoting compassion and understanding has also led him to serve as the French interpreter for the fourteenth Dalai Lama since nineteen eighty-nine.

In addition to his humanitarian work, Ricard has been actively involved in teaching and sharing knowledge. Since two thousand ten, he has traveled extensively, giving talks and assisting in teachings alongside Dilgo Khyentse Rinpoche, the incarnation of Kyabje Dilgo Khyentse Rinpoche, further enriching the spiritual landscape of Tibetan Buddhism.
