Maurice de Saxe

Maurice de Saxe, born on 28 October 1696, emerged as a formidable military leader and theorist during the early 18th century. As the illegitimate son of Augustus II the Strong, he began his military career in the Army of the Holy Roman Empire before transitioning to the Imperial Army. His journey eventually led him to serve in the French military, where he would leave an indelible mark on history.

Throughout his illustrious career, Saxe achieved the esteemed rank of first Marshal of France, later ascending to the position of Marshal General of France. His strategic prowess was particularly evident during the War of the Austrian Succession, which spanned from 1740 to 1748.
