Mayo Methot, born on March third, nineteen oh four, was a talented American actress known for her work in both film and stage productions. With a career that spanned several decades, she appeared in over thirty films and was a prominent figure in various Broadway musicals, including the notable Vincent Youmans musical, Great Day, in nineteen twenty-nine.

Her film career included a variety of supporting roles at Warner Brothers, where she often portrayed strong, hard-edged women. Methot's filmography features notable titles such as the mystery film The Night Club Lady in nineteen thirty-two, the comedy Jimmy the Gent in nineteen thirty-four, and the crime drama Marked Woman in nineteen thirty-seven.

It was on the set of Marked Woman that she met the legendary actor Humphrey Bogart, leading to a passionate romance that culminated in their marriage in nineteen thirty-eight. However, Methot's life was marred by personal struggles, including severe alcoholism and a diagnosis of paranoid schizophrenia following a suicide attempt in nineteen forty-three. After several reconciliations, she divorced Bogart in nineteen forty-five.

Following her divorce, Methot faced challenges in reviving her film career and ultimately returned to her childhood home in Portland. Unfortunately, her battle with alcoholism and depression intensified, leading to her untimely death in nineteen fifty-one at the age of forty-seven, a tragic end to a life filled with both artistic achievement and personal turmoil.
