Personal Facts, Age, Height and Biography of Mike Castle

Mike Castle, born on July second, nineteen thirty-nine, is a distinguished American politician and lawyer known for his extensive service in Delaware's political landscape. He represented Delaware's at-large congressional district in the U.S. House of Representatives from nineteen ninety-three to two thousand eleven, making him the longest-serving U.S. Representative in the state's history.

A member of the Republican Party, Castle's political career began in the Delaware General Assembly, where he served from nineteen sixty-seven to nineteen seventy-seven. He then ascended to the role of Lieutenant Governor from nineteen eighty-one to nineteen eighty-five, before becoming the sixty-ninth Governor of Delaware, a position he held from nineteen eighty-five to nineteen ninety-two.

Throughout his career, Castle was a prominent figure in Delaware politics, being the last Republican to serve as governor and the most recent Republican to represent the state in the U.S. Congress as of twenty twenty-five. His congressional district, which encompasses the entire state, is recognized as the oldest intact surviving district in the nation.

In two thousand nine, Castle announced his candidacy for the special election to fill the Senate seat vacated by Joe Biden, who had resigned to become Vice President. Despite being heavily favored in the general election, Castle faced an unexpected defeat in the Republican primary to Christine O'Donnell in two thousand ten, who subsequently lost to Democrat Chris Coons.
