Mike Sillinger

Mike Sillinger, born on June twenty-ninth, nineteen seventy-one, is a distinguished Canadian former professional ice hockey player who made a significant impact in the National Hockey League (NHL) over a remarkable seventeen-season career. Known for his versatility, Sillinger played for twelve different teams, a record that highlights his adaptability and skill on the ice. His career was marked by an impressive nine trades, a league record he shares with Brent Ashton.

Drafted eleventh overall in nineteen eighty-nine by the Detroit Red Wings, Sillinger began his NHL journey in Detroit before moving on to play for the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim, Vancouver Canucks, Philadelphia Flyers, Tampa Bay Lightning, Florida Panthers, Ottawa Senators, Columbus Blue Jackets, Phoenix Coyotes, St. Louis Blues, Nashville Predators, and New York Islanders. Throughout his time in the league, he only played full seasons with four teams: Detroit, Vancouver, Columbus, and New York.

During his tenure with the Red Wings, Sillinger achieved notable success, capturing a Calder Cup championship in nineteen ninety-two with the Adirondack Red Wings, where he also led the playoffs in scoring as a rookie in the American Hockey League (AHL). His international career is equally impressive, having represented Team Canada on two occasions, winning a gold medal at the nineteen ninety-one World Junior Championships and serving as captain at the two thousand World Championships.

After hanging up his skates, Sillinger transitioned into a role with the Edmonton Oilers as Director of Player Development from two thousand nine to two thousand fourteen. In two thousand fourteen, he began working in a scouting and recruitment capacity for the Regina Pats, the junior club where he once played, continuing his legacy in the sport.
