Monia Mazigh

Monia Mazigh, born in nineteen sixty-nine, is a prominent Canadian politician and a passionate advocate for civil liberties. She gained national attention for her relentless efforts to secure the release of her husband, Maher Arar, from a Syrian prison, highlighting her commitment to human rights and justice.

A resident of Ottawa, Ontario, Mazigh has been actively involved in politics, notably as the New Democratic Party candidate for the riding of Ottawa South during the two thousand four federal election. This riding has traditionally leaned towards the Liberal Party, making her candidacy a significant endeavor.
