Murad V

Personal Facts, Age, Height and Biography of Murad V

Murad V, born on September twenty-first, eighteen forty, was a significant figure in the history of the Ottoman Empire, serving as its sultan for a brief period from May thirtieth to August thirty-first in eighteen seventy-six.

The son of Sultan Abdulmejid I, Murad V was a proponent of transforming the government into a constitutional monarchy. His political ambitions were fueled by the actions of his uncle, Abdulaziz, who had succeeded Abdulmejid and sought to name his own son as the heir to the throne. This situation prompted Murad to play a role in the overthrow of Abdulaziz.

Despite his aspirations, Murad V's reign was marked by instability due to his frail physical and mental health. His time on the throne lasted only ninety-three days, after which he was deposed in favor of his half-brother, Abdul Hamid II.
