Reeva Steenkamp

Reeva Steenkamp, born on August nineteenth, nineteen eighty-three, was a prominent South African model and paralegal. She gained recognition for her work with FHM magazine and became the first face of Avon cosmetics in South Africa. Her career also included roles as a live roaming presenter for FashionTV and appearances in television advertisements for well-known brands such as Toyota Land Cruiser, Clover Industries, Redds, and Aldor Pin Pop.

In addition to her modeling career, Steenkamp showcased her talents as a celebrity contestant on the BBC Lifestyle show Baking Made Easy in two thousand twelve. She further captivated audiences as a participant in Tropika Island of Treasure season five, which aired on SABC 3 in February two thousand thirteen.

Tragically, on Valentine's Day in two thousand thirteen, Steenkamp's life was cut short when she was shot by her boyfriend, Oscar Pistorius, at his home in Pretoria. Pistorius claimed he mistook her for an intruder hiding in the bathroom. Initially convicted of culpable homicide, he was sentenced to five years in prison. However, on December third, two thousand fifteen, the Supreme Court of Appeal of South Africa overturned this conviction, finding him guilty of murder and sentencing him to six years in prison, which was later increased to thirteen years and five months by the Court of Appeal.

After serving a total of eight and a half years in prison, along with seven months of house arrest, Pistorius was released on parole on January fifth, two thousand twenty-four. The tragic circumstances surrounding Steenkamp's death continue to resonate, highlighting issues of domestic violence and justice in South Africa.
