Sprague Cleghorn

Sprague Cleghorn, born on March eleventh, nineteen ninety, was a prominent ice hockey player known for his formidable presence on the ice. He played for several teams in the National Hockey League, including the Ottawa Senators, Montreal Canadiens, and Boston Bruins. Cleghorn's career was marked by significant achievements, including being a member of three Stanley Cup championship teams, winning titles with the Senators in nineteen twenty and nineteen twenty-one, and with the Canadiens in nineteen twenty-four.

As a tough and physical defenceman, Cleghorn earned a reputation for his aggressive style of play. His on-ice conduct led to two assault charges and sparked discussions about banning him from the NHL. Despite the controversies, his reputation as a fierce defender was complemented by his offensive skills, making him one of the first offensive defencemen in the sport.

At the time of his retirement, Cleghorn had scored one hundred sixty-nine career goals, ranking him second in professional hockey history for defencemen, just behind Harry Cameron's one hundred seventy-three. His contributions to the game were recognized when he was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in nineteen fifty-eight.
