Sweyn II of Denmark, also known as Sweyn Ulfsson, reigned as King of Denmark from 1047 until his death in 1076. Born in 1020, he was the son of Ulf Thorgilsson and Estrid Svendsdatter, and he proudly carried the lineage of Sweyn Forkbeard through his mother’s side.
Throughout his life, Sweyn was married at least twice and fathered over twenty children, many of whom would go on to become significant figures in Danish history. Among his offspring were five future kings: Harald Hen, Saint Canute, Oluf Hunger, Eric Evergood, and Niels, each contributing to the legacy of the Danish monarchy.
Despite his courage in battle, Sweyn's military endeavors were often met with limited success. His physical stature was notable; he was a tall and powerfully built man, though he walked with a limp, a testament to the challenges he faced both on and off the battlefield.
