Taejong of Joseon, born Yi Pangwŏn on May sixteenth, thirteen sixty-seven, was a pivotal figure in Korean history, serving as the third monarch of the Joseon dynasty. He was the fifth son of King Taejo, the dynasty's founder, and played a crucial role in shaping the future of Korea.

Before his ascension to the throne, Taejong was known as Grand Prince Jeongan. His leadership was marked by significant reforms and consolidation of power, which laid the groundwork for the prosperity that followed during his son Sejong the Great's reign.

His reign lasted until May tenth, fourteen twenty-two, during which he implemented policies that strengthened the central government and reduced the influence of powerful aristocratic families. Taejong's legacy is remembered for his contributions to the stability and development of the Joseon dynasty.
