William Henry Pickering, born on February fifteenth, eighteen fifty-eight, was a prominent American astronomer known for his significant contributions to the field of astronomy.
Throughout his career, Pickering was instrumental in the construction and establishment of several observatories, most notably the Flagstaff Observatory, which was founded by Percival Lowell. His work at these astronomical observation stations greatly advanced the study of celestial bodies.
In the later years of his life, Pickering dedicated much of his time to his private observatory located in Jamaica. This serene environment allowed him to continue his astronomical pursuits and further his research.
