Yaropolk I of Kiev

Yaropolk I of Kiev, born in the year nine hundred fifty-five, was a significant figure in the history of Kievan Rus. He ascended to the throne as Prince of Kiev, ruling from nine hundred seventy-two until nine hundred seventy-eight. As the eldest son of Sviatoslav I, Yaropolk inherited a legacy of leadership and military prowess.

His lineage is somewhat shrouded in mystery, particularly regarding his mother. While some contemporary sources propose that Malusha, a steward in the household of his grandmother, Olga of Kiev, was his mother, this claim lacks confirmation from primary historical texts.
