Zahra Rahnavard

Zahra Rahnavard, born on October thirty-first, nineteen forty-five, is a prominent Iranian academic, artist, and politician. With a multifaceted career as a sculptor, journalist, essayist, and university teacher, she has made significant contributions to the fields of art and education in Iran.

Rahnavard gained international recognition in two thousand nine when Foreign Policy magazine named her one of the world's most distinguished thinkers. Her intellectual pursuits are complemented by her activism, particularly in advocating for women's rights in the Middle East. She has emphasized the importance of mutual respect for the laws of hijab among both men and women.

In addition to her academic and artistic endeavors, Rahnavard is known for her political involvement. She is the wife of Mir-Hossein Mousavi, a former Prime Minister of Iran. Her political stance and activism led to her being placed under house arrest from February two thousand eleven until May two thousand eighteen, highlighting the challenges faced by dissenting voices in the region.
