A-Mei

A-Mei, born Amit Kulilay on August 9, 1972, in Beinan, Taitung, Taiwan, is a celebrated Taiwanese singer and songwriter of Puyuma descent. She made her mark in the music industry with her debut album, Sisters, released in 1996, which achieved remarkable commercial success, selling over a million copies in Taiwan. Her sophomore album, Bad Boy, released in 1997, further solidified her status as a leading figure in the Mandopop music scene, becoming the best-selling album in the country.

Throughout her illustrious career, A-Mei has released several critically acclaimed albums, including Holding Hands, Can I Hug You, Lover?, and Regardless, all of which have also sold over a million copies. Despite facing challenges, such as a decline in sales due to a cross-strait relations controversy in 2004, she made a triumphant return in 2006 with her album I Want Happiness?.

A-Mei's contributions to music and society have earned her numerous accolades, including multiple Golden Melody Awards for Best Mandarin Female Singer.
