Abby Stein is an Israeli-American author, rabbi, and activist who has made significant contributions to the LGBTQ rights movement. Born on October first, nineteen ninety-one, she was formerly a member of New York's Haredi Jewish community and is an ordained Orthodox rabbi. In two thousand fifteen, Stein made headlines when she publicly came out as a trans woman, a courageous step that has inspired many.
Following her transition, Stein dedicated herself to supporting transgender individuals from religious backgrounds. She founded various support groups aimed at providing a safe space for those navigating similar journeys. Her memoir, Becoming Eve: My Journey from Ultra-Orthodox Rabbi to Transgender Woman, chronicles her experiences and the challenges she faced along the way.
