Abdelmajid Chetali

Abdelmajid Chetali, born on July fourth, nineteen thirty-nine, is a distinguished Tunisian football coach and former player. He made a significant impact on the national team, earning seventy caps and scoring four goals. His talent on the field was showcased during the 1960 Summer Olympics, where he represented Tunisia with pride.

Throughout his playing career, Chetali became a pivotal figure in the history of Étoile Sportive du Sahel, affectionately known as Majda. His discipline was evident as he received only one yellow card, a testament to his sportsmanship and skill.

Transitioning into management, Chetali led the Tunisian national team during their historic first World Cup appearance in nineteen seventy-eight. Under his guidance, Tunisia made headlines by becoming the first African team to win a World Cup match, defeating Mexico three to one. This remarkable achievement prompted FIFA to increase the number of World Cup slots allocated to African nations.
