Abderrahman Samba, born on September fifth, nineteen ninety-five, is a prominent Qatari track and field athlete specializing in the 400 metres hurdles. Although he was born and raised in Saudi Arabia, he initially represented Mauritania, his father's homeland, before switching allegiance to Qatar in two thousand fifteen. He became eligible to compete for Qatar in May two thousand sixteen.
Samba made a remarkable entrance into the elite athletics scene, placing seventh at the 2017 World Championships in Athletics during his global debut. His breakthrough came after a modest performance in two thousand sixteen, culminating in a stunning victory at the Qatar leg of the 2017 IAAF Diamond League, where he defeated Olympic champion Kerron Clement. By the end of that season, he had achieved a personal best of forty-eight point thirty-one seconds, ranking eighth in the world.
In February two thousand eighteen, Samba showcased his talent by winning a gold medal in the 4 × 400 metres relay at the Asian Indoor Athletics Championships alongside teammates Mohamed Nasir Abbas, Mohamed El Nour, and Abdalelah Haroun. Later that summer, he recorded an impressive time of forty-six point ninety-eight seconds in the 400 m hurdles at the Meeting de Paris, marking the second fastest time ever. He also secured two gold medals at the Asian Games in Indonesia, triumphing in both the 400 metres hurdles and the 4 × 400 metres relay.
In April two thousand nineteen, he continued his success by winning gold at the Asian Athletics Championships in the 400 hurdles. Despite facing injuries during the summer, he rebounded in October to claim a bronze medal at the World Athletics Championships. His outstanding performances throughout the year earned him the title of best athlete in Asia.
