Abdirahman Mohamed Abdullahi

Abdirahman Mohamed Abdullahi, born on 24 April 1956, is a prominent Somalilander politician and diplomat, currently serving as the sixth President of Somaliland since 12 December 2024. Known colloquially as Irro, he has made significant contributions to the political landscape of Somaliland.

Before ascending to the presidency, Abdullahi held the esteemed position of speaker of the Somaliland House of Representatives during the majority of the first elected parliament. His leadership and vision were instrumental in shaping the legislative framework of the region.

In the 2024 Somaliland presidential election, he was nominated as the presidential candidate for the Waddani Party. His campaign resonated with the electorate, leading to a decisive victory that propelled him into the highest office in the land.

During his presidency, Abdullahi achieved a historic milestone as Israel became the first country to officially recognize Somaliland, marking a significant moment in the region's quest for international legitimacy.
