Abdoulaye Faye

Abdoulaye Diagne-Faye, born on February 26, 1978, is a distinguished former Senegalese footballer who made his mark as a formidable defender. His football journey began in his homeland, where he played for ASEC Ndiambour and Jeanne d'Arc, showcasing his talent before making a significant move to Europe.

In 2002, Faye joined the French club Lens, where he honed his skills further. His impressive performances caught the eye of Sam Allardyce, leading to his transfer to Bolton Wanderers in July 2005. During his two seasons at Bolton, he established himself as a key player, which paved the way for his subsequent move to Newcastle United, where he played for one season.

Faye's career took another turn in August 2008 when he signed with Stoke City for a transfer fee of two million two hundred fifty thousand pounds. His time at Stoke was marked by success, as he became a fan favorite, winning the Player of the Year award and being appointed captain for the 2009-2010 season. However, he eventually lost the captaincy to Ryan Shawcross for the 2010-2011 season.

After his stint at Stoke, Faye reunited with Allardyce at West Ham United, contributing to the team's promotion to the Premier League in the 2011-2012 season. He later joined Hull City, where he played a vital role in another promotion-winning campaign in 2012-2013, before concluding his professional career at the end of the 2013-2014 season.
