Abdul Fatah Younis

Abdul Fatah Younis, born in nineteen forty-four, was a prominent Libyan military officer and politician. He played a significant role in the Libyan government, serving as the interior minister and being recognized as a key supporter of Muammar Gaddafi, often regarded as the second-in-command within the regime.

On February twenty-second, two thousand eleven, Younis made a pivotal decision to resign from his position and defect to the rebel side during the First Libyan Civil War. His defection marked a turning point, as he called upon the Libyan Army to align with the people's demands for change, emphasizing the need to respond to their legitimate aspirations.
