Abel Ferreira

Abel Fernando Moreira Ferreira, born on December 22, 1978, is a distinguished Portuguese football manager and former player, currently leading Brazilian club Palmeiras as their head coach.

As a right-back, Ferreira showcased his skills in the Primeira Liga, amassing two hundred thirty-four appearances over an impressive eleven seasons. His playing career included stints at notable clubs such as Vitória de Guimarães, Braga, and Sporting CP, where he celebrated victories in two Taça de Portugal and two Supertaça Cândido de Oliveira during his fourteen-year professional journey.

Transitioning to management in two thousand thirteen, Ferreira has held various coaching positions, including at Sporting CP B, Braga B, Braga, and PAOK. His tenure at Palmeiras has been particularly successful, highlighted by winning the Copa do Brasil in two thousand twenty, back-to-back Copa Libertadores titles in two thousand twenty and two thousand twenty-one, and the Campeonato Brasileiro Série A in two thousand twenty-two and two thousand twenty-three.
