Acácio Cordeiro Barreto, known simply as Acácio, was born on January twenty-fourth, nineteen fifty-nine, in Campos dos Goytacazes, Rio de Janeiro State, Brazil. He is celebrated for his remarkable career as a professional footballer, primarily as a goalkeeper, and is particularly renowned for his time with the prestigious club Vasco da Gama.

Throughout his career, which spanned from nineteen seventy-eight to nineteen ninety-six, Acácio showcased his skills at several clubs, including Americano, Serrano, Vasco da Gama, Madureira, and even ventured abroad to play in Portugal for Tirsense and Beira-Mar. His impressive achievements include winning three Campeonato Carioca titles in nineteen eighty-two, nineteen eighty-seven, and nineteen eighty-eight, as well as securing the Campeonato Brasileiro Série A title in nineteen eighty-nine.

On the international stage, Acácio represented the Brazil national team, earning seven caps in nineteen eighty-nine. He was also part of the roster for the nineteen ninety FIFA World Cup, although he did not see any action during the tournament as an unused substitute.

After hanging up his boots, Acácio transitioned into coaching, initially serving as an assistant coach under Paulo Cesar Gusmao at Ceará and Vasco da Gama.
