Adam Ondra

Adam Ondra, born on February fifth, nineteen ninety-three, is a renowned Czech professional rock climber and mountaineer, celebrated for his exceptional skills in lead climbing, bouldering, and competition climbing. Recognized as a prodigy by Rock & Ice in two thousand thirteen, Ondra has established himself as the leading climber of his generation, achieving remarkable milestones that have set him apart in the climbing community.

In two thousand fourteen, Ondra made history by becoming the only male athlete to win World Championship titles in both lead climbing and bouldering in the same year. His prowess is further highlighted by his victories in the World Cup series, where he claimed the lead climbing title in two thousand nine, two thousand fifteen, and two thousand nineteen, alongside the bouldering title in two thousand ten. This remarkable achievement places him among the elite, sharing the distinction with only one other male athlete, Sorato Anraku, in two thousand twenty-three.

At the young age of thirteen, Ondra redpointed his first graded 9a (5.14d) sport route, showcasing his extraordinary talent early on. By two thousand eleven, he was onsighting 5.14c routes with ease, and by two thousand thirteen, he had effectively repeated every challenging route in the world. By the end of two thousand eighteen, Ondra had climbed a staggering one thousand five hundred fifty sport routes ranging from grades 8a (5.13b) to 9c (5.15d), including a notable 9c (5.15d) route, three 9b+ (5.15c) routes, and three onsights of 9a (5.14d).

Ondra's groundbreaking achievements include being the first climber to redpoint a route graded 9c (5.15d) with his ascent of Silence in two thousand seventeen, as well as the first to redpoint a 9b+ (5.15c) route with Change in two thousand twelve. He also made history by being the first-ever climber to flash a 9a+ (5.15a) route, Supercrackinette, in two thousand eighteen, and the second ever to onsight a 9a (5.14d) route, Cabane au Canada, in two thousand thirteen. While primarily recognized for his sport climbing achievements, Ondra has also excelled in difficult big wall climbs, traditional climbs, and boulder problems, earning him the title of the world's strongest climber.
