He currently serves as the junior United States senator from California, a position he has held since two thousand twenty-four. Prior to his election to the Senate, Schiff represented California in the United States House of Representatives from two thousand one to two thousand twenty-four and was a member of the California State Senate from nineteen ninety-six to two thousand.
