Adamantios Androutsopoulos, born on August twentieth, nineteen nineteen, in Psari, Messenia, Greece, was a prominent lawyer and politician. He pursued his studies at the University of Athens and later attended the University of Chicago, although he did not complete his degree there. He ultimately graduated from John Marshall Law School, laying the foundation for a distinguished career in law and politics.
During the tumultuous period of the Greek military junta from nineteen sixty-seven to nineteen seventy-four, Androutsopoulos held several key ministerial positions. He served as Finance Minister from April twenty-first, nineteen sixty-seven, to August twenty-sixth, nineteen seventy-one, and later as Minister for the Interior from August twenty-sixth, nineteen seventy-one, to May tenth, nineteen seventy-three. His political journey took a significant turn when he was appointed as the Head of Government on November twenty-fifth, nineteen seventy-three, by junta leader Dimitrios Ioannides.
As the last Prime Minister appointed under the junta, Androutsopoulos led the country until the return to civilian rule in nineteen seventy-four. His tenure as Prime Minister lasted from November twenty-fifth, nineteen seventy-three, to July twenty-third, nineteen seventy-four, during which he also held the position of Finance Minister until July twenty-sixth, nineteen seventy-four. His leadership marked a critical transition in Greek politics, culminating in the general election that restored democracy.
