Adela of Flanders, born in the year one thousand sixty-five, was a prominent figure in medieval politics, known for her influential roles as queen consort and regent. Her life was marked by significant marriages that shaped her legacy, first to King Canute IV of Denmark and later to Duke Roger Borsa of Apulia.

As queen consort of Denmark, Adela played a vital role in the royal court, navigating the complexities of political alliances and governance. Her marriage to Canute IV not only solidified her status but also connected Denmark to the influential Flanders region.

Following her time in Denmark, Adela became the duchess of Apulia through her marriage to Duke Roger Borsa. This union further expanded her influence in southern Italy, where she later took on the mantle of regent from the year one thousand one hundred eleven until her death in April one thousand one hundred fifteen. As the mother and guardian of Duke William II, she was instrumental in maintaining stability and continuity in the duchy during her regency.
