Adolf Wölfli, born on February twenty-ninth, eighteen sixty-four, was a pioneering Swiss visual artist whose work is often associated with the Art Brut or outsider art movement. Diagnosed with schizophrenia, Wölfli spent the majority of his life in the Waldau psychiatric clinic in Bern, where he discovered his passion for art.
