Adolfo Ruiz Cortines

Adolfo Ruiz Cortines, born on December thirtieth, nineteen hundred, was a prominent Mexican politician and military figure who served as the President of Mexico from nineteen fifty-two to nineteen fifty-eight. A dedicated member of the Institutional Revolutionary Party (PRI), he previously held significant positions, including Governor of Veracruz and Secretary of the Interior. His presidency is often associated with the era known as the Mexican Miracle, during which he championed numerous reforms that transformed the nation.

Ruiz Cortines was a veteran of the Mexican Revolution, making him the last president to have actively participated in that pivotal conflict. His early career included roles at the Ministry of Industry and Commerce and the Department of Statistics, where he worked from nineteen twenty-one to nineteen thirty-five. His political journey continued as he became a Senior Official of the Government of the Federal District in nineteen thirty-five and later a member of the Chamber of Deputies for Veracruz in nineteen thirty-seven.

In nineteen fifty-one, he emerged as the presidential candidate for the PRI and won the contentious elections of nineteen fifty-two. His administration was marked by significant social reforms, including the amendment of Article thirty-four of the Constitution, which granted women the right to vote. He also initiated various infrastructure projects, leading to the establishment of the National Housing Institute and the National Nuclear Energy Commission, while advocating for fiscal austerity and increased government transparency.
