González was the first overall pick in the two thousand MLB draft, selected by the Florida Marlins. He made his Major League debut with the Texas Rangers in two thousand four, showcasing his talent and potential. After a successful stint with the Rangers, he was traded to the San Diego Padres, where he became a three-time All-Star and earned two Gold Glove Awards, solidifying his reputation as one of the league's top first basemen.
