Adrian Mariappa, born on October third, nineteen eighty-six, is a distinguished professional footballer and coach, currently playing as a defender for St Albans City in the Isthmian League Premier Division. A product of Watford's youth academy, he made his first-team debut during the 2005–06 season, showcasing his versatility by playing both as a centre-back and right back.
Throughout his initial tenure at Watford, Mariappa made an impressive two hundred and forty-eight first-team appearances, including nineteen in the Premier League. Notably, he achieved a remarkable streak of one hundred and fourteen consecutive league appearances, marking the fourth-longest run in the club's history. His leadership qualities shone through as he captained various levels of the club, including the under-18 and reserve teams, and served as vice-captain during his final years at Vicarage Road.
In May two thousand twelve, Mariappa received his first call-up to represent the Jamaica national team, earning his debut cap against Guyana later that month. Following this, he transferred to Reading in July two thousand twelve, where he made twenty-nine league appearances before moving to Crystal Palace in September two thousand thirteen after Reading's relegation.
After a brief stint away, Mariappa returned to Watford before the start of the 2016–17 season, contributing with seven league appearances. In addition to his playing career, he currently serves as the assistant coach for Watford's under-21 team, further solidifying his commitment to the sport.
