Aemilianus

Personal Facts, Age, Height and Biography of Aemilianus

Marcus Aemilius Aemilianus, known simply as Aemilian, was a notable figure in Roman history, born around the year two hundred and seven. His rise to prominence came during a tumultuous period in the Roman Empire, marked by military strife and political upheaval.

As a commander of the Moesian troops, Aemilian achieved a significant victory against the invading Goths, which earned him the acclaim of his soldiers. This military success propelled him to the position of emperor, albeit for a brief two-month reign in the year two hundred fifty-three.

Following his acclamation, Aemilian swiftly advanced to Roman Italy, where he faced off against the reigning Emperor Trebonianus Gallus at the Battle of Interamna Nahars in August of the same year. Despite his initial triumph, Aemilian's reign was cut short when he was betrayed and killed by his own men, as another general, Valerian, declared himself emperor and marched against him with a larger force.
