Aesop Rock

Ian Matthias Bavitz, known to the world as Aesop Rock, was born on June 5, 1976, in Long Island, New York. As a prominent figure in the underground and alternative hip-hop scenes, he emerged during the late 1990s and early 2000s, carving out a unique space for himself as a rapper and producer. His journey in music began with the release of his debut album, Music for Earthworms, in 1997, followed by Float in 2000. Aesop's third studio album, Labor Days, debuted in September 2001, solidifying his reputation as a lyrical innovator.

Over the years, Aesop Rock continued to push the boundaries of hip-hop with a series of critically acclaimed albums. His fourth release, Bazooka Tooth, came out in September 2003, and was followed by None Shall Pass in August 2007, which featured one of his most popular tracks. The artist's evolution continued with Skelethon in July 2012, The Impossible Kid in April 2016, and Spirit World Field Guide in November 2020. His most recent work, Garbology, was released in November 2021, with Integrated Tech Solutions following in November 2023.

Aesop Rock's contributions to music extend beyond his solo career; he has been a vital member of several groups, including The Weathermen, Hail Mary Mallon, and the Uncluded. Currently, he collaborates as the vocalist of the duo Malibu Ken. His stage name, Aesop Rock, has an interesting origin, stemming from a character he portrayed in a film, with the 'rock' element added later as a playful addition to his rhymes.

Throughout his career, Aesop Rock has been recognized for his artistic impact, with betterPropaganda ranking him at number nineteen in their retrospective of the Top 100 Artists of the Decade in 2010.
